I think some of the problem is that evangelicals feel that they have cornered the market on Christianity. I’m a Christian, but my expereinces and takes on things are different than theirs although my voice is not represented with them.

Ty pretty much stated my thoughts on Brody’s article.

Now my thoughts on the mud-slinging and the McCain campaign? We’ll save those for a later date.

I would, however, share a post I did recently on the whole “evangelical Christian” thing as it pertains to politics.

Wow! Let me start of by saying I am an Obama supporter and not because he is man of color as some would be perceive. It took me some time to “get to know” Obama which I did by studying his Web site and listening to his speeches. I still plan to read his books prior to the election.

I’m also a wife who has experienced a spouse overseas 3x in the last 5 years, so I’m deeply concerned about the Iraq war. An Obama is the only one who has spoken clearly to me about his plans for the war, the economy and other issues.

As for Brody’s article, I can see his point and I commend him for telling the truth about McCain’s strategies. The article didn’t offend me. I think a Christian organization should report the facts and the truth, definitely don’t mud sling. Brody stated exactly what we can see going on with the negative ad campaigns.

We should be aware of the effectiveness of these ads and definitely be in prayer. I strongly believe God has already set the stage for who will be in office. There are reasons and seasons in the spiritual realm we can never fully understand, but we definitely should be mindful and prayerful.
