I'm learning a lot from this post and from a discussion that I've having on shelfari. Now I sorta figured that not everybody would be into trailers, but it never occurred to me that some readers wouldn't want to read excerpts.

Well, that's what I'm learning an shelfari. So how do you all feel about excerpts?

By the way, you can listen in on the shelfari conversation at http://www.shelfari.com/groups/26726/about

I think I prefer the exerpts. Having just finished the book, within my mind I've kind of already formed an opinion of what these women look and sound like - the trailers - though they created interest - I excerpts were what actually led to my purchase.

I think I prefer the reading experience of the excerpt versus the viewing experience of the trailer like you, Allison.

I didn't mind the trailer at all, in fact I kind of liked it. After reviewing it, I still had the thought that "I could read this book." Maybe I'm partial, because of already reading it. Even with that in mind, I still think someone who hasn't read it would have an interest in checking it out.

I personally prefer excerpts, rather than trailers.

I think it's interesting that you two have different takes on the trailer. I have to admit that when I first saw it, I didn't like it. Since then, it's grown on me and I do like it.

I think the trailer puts one spin on the book while an excerpt allows readers to draw create own spins. To me, the downside of a trailer is that it takes away the readers' chances to make their own interpretations of the content.

Now tell me, in general, do you prefer trailers or excerpts?

I've read the book and the trailer does disservice to book. The trailer does not make the book exciting.

Angela, you'll be happy to know that does make me want to read the book!

I want to see how Francine lives with the guilt or, if she can give it to the Lord and accept His forgiveness without blaming herself forever.

I want to see how the whole thing comes out because if the pastor preyed on Toni, he probably assaulted other women and maybe girls too.

It is sad but true that satan is always 'seeking to devour' the saints of God.
