Denise, I emailed you privately but I wanted to re-post here for others who may be interested in the information.

Your work is copyrighted as soon as you put pen to paper. To give yourself some assurity, you can mail your book to yourself and not open
the envelope. That way you have some proof of when you wrote. You can also use delivery confirmation when you mail your work out.

You may want to join an organization like American Christian Fiction Writers at http://www.acrw.net. The organization provides a lot of
information about publishsers and agents as well as general information for new authors.

You might also go back to the main page on this web site and check out my "Tips for Writers" Page.

Self-publishing is not for the feint of heart. If you know about marketing and selling your book and you have the TIME, it could be a
good option. Time is the major factor, though, I think.

Let me know if you have other questions.

Ms. Benson,

I have enjoyed reading your Bio. It is very inspiring for me. I am relatively young and I am working on my first novel. My goal is to have it written before the summer. My dream is to have it published by the end of the year...(fingers crossed)

I am a member of Writer's Digest and I own a host of books to help my process go a little easier. I desire to become a Christian Fiction Romance Novelist.

My question to you is how do I know that once I am ready to send my manuscript off to these publishing houses that they won't steal the idea or claim they did not rec'v it? How do I protect my first novel? I prefer to seek out Black publishers but at this point I just want someone who is honest. Lastly, is it best to try self-publishing or go with someone who is exprienced and can you provide a ball park price in the amount of money one could expect to pay to get their book published?

Thank you once again for your sharing so much of yourself with us. May God continue to have favor in your life and I pray that your novels continue to touch others.

Respectfully Submitted,

Denise Waters
